Our Beggining and how it all got started

My husband, Gary, was the pastor of a church in Conway, AR. He resigned because we felt like God wanted us some where else. We came back to our home church in Little Rock, AR. and waited on God to show us where to he wanted us to go. I prayed every night; Lord show me where you want me to go and I will be willing to follow. I prayed for a full-time ministry and for the Lord to show me how to love as he does. I felt I didn't really know how to love and I wanted to learn. Gary soon got a call from a church by our home that was looking for a pastor. We went there for several Sunday's for him to preach and was told that the church was going to call him to pastor. On that same day, I received a call from my best friend to please pray for a set of house parents at ABC Homes. Immediately I knew what God was asking us to do. Two weeks later we set off for our trip to visit ABC Homes. I was very excited to be going, but thought I can't do this. I liked my time to myself, I liked to get up and go when I wanted. I didn't want to be around a house full of kids and kaos all day! God put me in my place real fast. He let me know how selfish I was being. I had just told him the night before, you tell me where to go and I will follow. Now I was telling God I couldn't? Well, he convicted me real quick on that one. We spent the night at ABC homes in Monticello and got to know some of the kid's. They were so happy and so full of love. Gary and I got up the next morning and walked through the campus. I started crying feeling overwhelmed by the presence of God. God was all over the campus and he said; Denise, this is where you will serve me. Gary felt the same conviciton and we knew God needed us there. We stayed for almost a year and felt God asking us to move on. We gained custody of a 17 year old boy, Jackie, who is on fire for the Lord. We are very excited about what God has instore for our family and very excited to have kids to minister with us. God is so good! We seek his will for our lives always!
